Doctor Strange (2016) follows Dr. Stephen Strange, a brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon whose hands are severely injured in a car accident, ending his medical career. Desperate to restore his abilities, he travels to Nepal and encounters the Ancient One, a powerful sorcerer who teaches him the mystical arts and the existence of multiple dimensions. Strange becomes the Sorcerer Supreme, Earth's primary defender against magical and interdimensional threats.

Directed by Scott Derrickson, the film blends origin-story narrative with visually innovative magical sequences and introduces the concept of the Multiverse to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Strange, Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo. The film was both a critical and commercial success, establishing Doctor Strange as a key figure in the MCU and setting up his central role in subsequent Avengers and multiverse-focused storylines.
