Stop Killer Robots is an international coalition of over 250 non-governmental organizations, academics, and civil society groups campaigning for a preemptive ban on fully autonomous weapons systems. Founded to address the humanitarian and ethical concerns posed by lethal autonomous weapons, the coalition advocates for binding international treaties and legal frameworks that would prohibit machines from making life-or-death decisions without meaningful human control. The campaign has engaged with the United Nations, national governments, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to push for regulatory action before such weapons become widespread. The coalition emphasizes that autonomous weapons pose risks to civilian populations, undermine human dignity, and could lower the threshold for armed conflict.
