The MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy is a research center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology focused on understanding the economic, social, and policy implications of digital transformation. The initiative brings together faculty, researchers, and students from across MIT's schools and departments to study how digital technologies reshape business models, labor markets, and economic structures.

The IDE conducts research on topics including automation and employment, platform economics, digital skills and workforce development, and the governance of digital markets. It produces research papers, hosts convenings and workshops, and engages with policymakers, business leaders, and other stakeholders to inform evidence-based approaches to digital economy challenges.

The initiative serves as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, combining perspectives from engineering, economics, management, and policy to address complex questions about technology's role in economic transformation.
