Meta AI is the artificial intelligence research and development division of Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook). It is responsible for developing and releasing large language models, most notably the Llama family of open-weights models, which have become widely adopted in the AI research and industry communities. In early 2025, Meta reorganized its AI efforts, consolidating teams into a unit focused on superintelligence research, following significant personnel changes in the division.
